Cook Varkony Studios is the dream of two local artists in search of a venue to bring their vision to your door.

PJ COOK, artist/owner

     PJ's schooling began at William Paterson University and Montclair University in studio art, sculpture and photography.  But it didn't end there.  PJ worked for sculptors and art installation experts as an apprentice before founding the studio.  

     Years ago, PJ wanted to keep his artist skills fresh and push the envelope so he experimented with commercially viable artisan wall finishes.  Clients raved and PJ soon knew that he should keep ahead of trends not just follow them.   PJ began training under journeyman and top decorative artist Dean Sickler at Dundean Studios in Chatham, New Jersey. 

     Now PJ designs custom interiors for clients and is our top plasterer. His love for metal and stone translate into every trowel stroke.  He continues his education with Dundean and around the country in search of the unique.

 

TANYA VARKONY, artist/owner

     Tanya attended Drexel University School of Design and the University of Penn for Fashion Design and Art History, respectively.  After many years of sewing hems for other people, Tanya found herself unfulfilled and pursued a career in the restaurant/nightclub and catering scene. 

     Using her design background, Tanya took being a restaurateur to it's highest level.    Integrating food, color, costume, music, and most of all, personalizing the client's experience, aka, the "total experience" became a passion. From fabulous linens to decorating to redesigning the architecture became a priority.  Suddenly, even painting the walls was on Tanya's restaurant manager TO-DO list.

     Tanya's art now reflects much of that "total experience" passion.  With a persistent eye for color, Tanya's art begs to be touched, not just viewed.  It's purpose is to envelope the inhabiter and transport them to a place that can only be created in the mind.  Tanya continues her education with Mr. Sickler at Dundean Studios and with other artists around the country.
