Furniture Finishes

We all know just how hard it is to find the "right" piece for that right spot. Usually, you find it but it's the wrong color, or it's bland.
As furniture stores diminish and the accesibility to good furniture get tougher, you may find that re-doing your old furniture can be a worthwhile investment.

Here's a great example of bringing a piece out of the 1980's and into today's Mediterranean Renaissance.
These chandeliers originally cost almost $5,000. At that price, who wants to replace them? A little paint goes along way...and for pennies on the dollar. (SHH!, its PLASTIC, but no one will ever know)
This piece was once dreadfully bland and "over-antiqued". A simple two-tone gold rub brought new life to the base and provided the needed contrast for the black granite top.

The original metal on this dining set was gun metal gray. In order to have it harmonize with other inhabitants of the warm room, we needed to change it to a chocolate-y bronze with pale gold highlights.
Don't forget somoe of the most important pieces of furniture in the room- your architectual details. The effect of the water-gilded mouldings and a similarly painted door is like finishing off that great outfit with the perfect necklace.
Irregular construction made this piece wear and tear in obvious areas of the drawer fronts. After careful matching and blending (one of our favorite things to do) you can't even see where the factory finish ends and the hand painting begins.
